Additional battle scenes from '300', including the last stand
The bravery of the Spartan contingent in the first two days of the Battle of Thermopylae can only be admired. However, the final day is where the legend was born of not only King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans, but also of the 700 Thespians who fought to the death. When it was said that 'The Persian arrows would blot out the sun', according to Herodotus, Diekenes answered 'Then we will fight in the shade'. In the Frank Miller '300' version these words are spoken by the Spartan warrior Stelios.
