Hi John,

I had a look at your website with a lot of interest. It drew my attention in the way it was dedicated to the Spartans of Thermopylae. As my interest is in ancient Greek and Roman Military History, films on the ancient world, and ancient warfare, the 1962 film The 300 Spartans is one of my favourite films of all time. The Australian premiere of 300 is in early April and I will be seeing it when its released in that week. It will be interesting to see how it will perform in Australia compared to other countries like America.

Cheers,

A. Jurko - Australia

Hi John,

No questions, just a comment. A very cool site, man. Very cool. I had no idea one of my favorite movies of all time was so revered and I might add as it should be. Talk about a seminal moment in the history and survival of western civilization. That had to be it. A definite "clash of civilizations"! I spent about two hours on your website last night. It's awesome! Love the combination of history, media and pop culture.

Saw the trailer to the "300" this past weekend and was blown away. Googled and found a link to your website. Keep up the good work.

Dear John,

It is my first time that I have linked in your website. Congratulations. I wish I could find more Greeks like yourself but unfortunately - I am afraid - there are not too many left.

Next to Homer's Iliad & Odyssey, Steven's "Gates of Fire" is my most favorite book. A book with which I feel all Greek parents should use to "educate" and "probe" their kids into the real Greek world & their one and only true legacy. I heard rumors about "Gates..." becoming a movie but no earlier than 2008.

In the meantime I have also heard the Frank Miller's "300" will also become a movie. Do you trust this effort as a proper source of telling the story of those Immortals? I am afraid it is going to be another typical Hollywood movie with no respect to the real history (I have read somewhere parts of the script where - for Zeus sake - close to King Leonidas some other names of the "protagonists" are such names as "Stavros!!!!!", "Stelios!!!!!"..). What a same and what a pity. Anyway,...

Keep up the work and I wish you all the best for the future.

Hello John,

I actually just happened upon your site while searching for information on hoplite history. I just recently gained an interest in this time period after going to a rennaisance festival in Murfreesboro, Tn. I have always had a fascination with all types of ancient civilizations and there conflicts in general. The further back the better.

I purchased a Trojan helmet at the festival (similar to the one Brad Pitt wore in Troy) and also have a Corinthian helmet without crest. The one I purchased from you will probably be worn by me at next years ren fair. I am also trying to find a hoplite uniform (just the actual cloth part that is worn under the armour, not the armour). The Murfreesboro ren fairs are held in May so it is too hot for armour.

I am currently doing more research on the era and am having a fun time with the journey. I actually enjoy research when I do it at my own pace.

Thanks once again for the delivery information John.

Have a good day,

G. Thomas - USA

Greetings John!

This is Polydeykis from the Hellenic epic/heavy/metal band SACRED BLOOD. I saw your website and I really liked it a lot! It is very good that Hellenes outside Greek keep the our history alive!

I am writing in English as I don't know who will read this e mail, or else I would have written in Greek anyway..
I play guitar and piano in SACRED BLOOD (www.sacred-blood.com), and we are releasing a CD about the Battle of Thermopylae in June.

In any case, I would like to congratulate you about your fantastic website!

Strength and honor,

Polydeykis - Greece

Hi John,

Thanks so much for your very prompt and informative reply! Good to hear that there is just some re-vamping being done and that you will be back. As you did mention in one of your descriptives, there really is no other website devoted the way yours seems to be that historical event. That is such a shame given the very significant impact that Thermopylae had on the history of Western Civilization.

  Thanks,

D. DeFeo - USA

Hello Mr. Trikeriotis:

Just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoy your website on Thermopylae and the Spartans. I, too, am a HUGE FAN and try to read and study all I can of them. I'm really looking forward to the new "300" movie in 2007..........it will be fantastic I'm sure. I waited 40-yrs. to get a copy of the original " 300 Spartans" movie on DVD so I can wait for this.

Thanks very much,
