Since
there are so very few artifacts in museums which have survived from the
Greco-Persian & Peloponnesian Wars era, the Living History Group
'The Hellenic Warriors' has researched and constructed much of its own
armor for classroom display and appearances. In addition, we have
commissioned armorers from around the world to recreate the different
panoplies worn by the Greek hoplite during the era known as 'Classical
Greece' (or the 'Golden Age of Greece'). Therefore, we are very
honored to announce our association with Daniyal Steel Crafts of India, whose artists have crafted several of the these items.
As a result, our
multimedia presentation designed
for the classroomon the Battles of Marathon and Thermopylae, has been augmented by incorporating these elements.Included with our appearance are two distinctive panoplies which will
be displayed in the classroom, thereby allowing the students a unique opportunity to
inspect and wear the helmets, shields, etc. Furthermore, the students
will be provided with mock armor and weapons which will allow them to
recreate and become part of the feared Spartan phalanx formation.
Therefore, these tangible features add a 'hands on' dimension
unavailable in the textbook, exhibit, or anywhere else for that matter.
Our members have appeared at schools, museums, etc., demonstrating the
tactics along with the armor and weaponry employed by the warriors of
Greece, specifically that of the Spartans.
'The Hellenic Warriors' a.k.a
'Warriors of Thermopylae' Living History Group is available for
appearances at schools in the Mid-Atlantic area. Fully clad with
the arms and armor that were indicative of those used by the 300 Spartans
and other Greek defenders of the Greco-Persian Wars (490 -479 B.C.),
the members will be available to field questions relative to these
battles and demonstrate the tactics used.
If you would like to view the presentation and/or engage one or more of our group for your classroom/institution or event, please contact us.
